Eastern Qing Tombs

Qing Dongling is located in Zunhua County Tangshan City, Hebei Province's, 125 kilometers east of Beijing. It is one of the largest , best-preserved imperial mausoleums existence in china . after the Qing ruler entered into Beijng ,the first emperor once went hunting and finded the ”°fengshui”± treasure area surrounding by mountains as his imperial mausoleum.

The Construction of Qingdongling began in 1661 during the reign of KANGXI emperor , until 1935, the last emperor was buried here . 5 emperors , 15emperesses, 136 concubines, 3 princes, 2princess ,a total of 161 imperial members were buried here. Xiaoling, the mausoleum of Emperor Shunzhi ( the first Qing emperor in China), is standing as the focal point of the entire structure, which indicates that Emperor Shunzhi is the most exalted and highly respected in the whole royal family .

Other emperors' tombs should lie on both sides of Xiaoling from east to west according to the position each person occupied in the family hierarchy. The tombs of empresses and concubines are placed alongside those of their husbands, Sacred ways connect the tombs of the women with those of their husbands, and the sacred ways of the tombs of the other emperors connect with that of Xiaoling. Thus a branch-like system is formed, showing clearly the relationship of the rulers to their heirs.
