Jinshangling Great Wall is located in luanping County ,about 133 kilometers(83 miles) northeast Beijing. It is situated on the Big and Small Jinshanling Mountains, hence its name.It connects to the Simatai Section of the wall in the east and Gubeikou section in the west. It is the most representative part of the Great Wall.

Jinshanling Great Wall was first constructed by the famous general ,Xu Da in the early Ming Dynasty.It was renovated under the supervision of the great general Qi Jiguang and the local governor Tan Lun in 1567.

This section has the total length of 10 kilometers. It has 67 watchtowers, 3 beacon towers, and 5 passes. They are densely distributed along the wall,The watchtowers differ in size ,shape and construction materials. Some of them are made of bricks and wood, while others are made of bricks and stone. Some has one storey, while others have two or three.
